Augmented Reality (AR), according to Google, is "a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view".

These technologies are now readily available to us in the 21st century. With advancement of mobile technology, AR is rapidly being integrated and making big headlines. A good example from the past year would be the Pokemon Go which went viral with nearly 30 million users logging in becoming immersed in augmented reality.

Head ways made by Pokemon Go is going a long way for software developers bring new innovative ways to use AR. For example is iStagin app allows the user to place various furniture around the room to aid in buying furniture (imaged shown). Like wise IKEA have their own versions of the app that accomplish similar tasks. One that caught my eye was A.R Car Finder app that allows the user to drop a pin location of a car before stepping away from the vehicle. App tracks the location and will display an arrow that points to the location of the car making car searching a breeze.

As a developer, it was clear the AR is an area which that will continue to grow in the years to come especially becoming deeper integrated to navigational systems, and bring more interactive technology which were limited in past years. Food for thoughts creating an AR app that allows the user to take a picture of a piece of clothing and seeing how the clothes would look on the wearer would be pretty awesome app.
